Take a virtual 3-D drive: Martin County’s ‘bridge over troubled waters’

Spanning the South Fork of the St. Lucie River from Stuart to Palm City, the project gained the top spot on a Fox News list of the “101 Most Egregious Wastes of Stimulus Money,” and was also featured in a CNN report on wasteful spending in the federal stimulus effort. The initial amount of $124 million was awarded to the project by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Citizens for Smart Growth is a Palm City group that has been challenging the permitting of the construction since 2007. Completion of the bridge is scheduled for July 2013.
