Stuart Police Department warns of IRS phone scam alert

 

Recently, a Stuart resident received a phone call from 941-275-8157 stating that he was from the Department of the United States Treasury.

The caller claimed that the resident had $5400 of taxes that were not reported to the IRS in his 2011-2012 taxes.

The caller made several threats to dispatch someone to arrest the victim if the taxes were not paid immediately.

Luckily, in this case, the individual began to question the caller.

The caller then hung up.

If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately and report this to police.
