From The Daily Business Review: The Stuart Law Firm of Goldstein Schmitt & Associates lost more than 100 clients in March when shareholder Thomas Schmitt abruptly left the Stuart firm to open a Martin County office for Kogan DiSalvo & Schmitt, taking with him fellow attorney Anthony Bennett and paralegals Nicole Cephas-Lopez and Julianne Lorello.

The suit pits Schmitt, his latest employer and former staffers against longtime personal injury attorney Lauri Goldstein, who was suspended by the Florida Supreme Court for 91 days in 2013 …

“I practice law,” a defiant Schmitt said during an April 3 deposition. “I don’t know what Lauri Goldstein did, but I can tell you if she practiced law, it wasn’t very much. She would come in at noon, have a two-hour lunch, shop online for a few hours and then leave.”
