PBPost: Tiger Woods will miss U.S. Open and is uncertain for other 2014 majors

In this March 9 photo, Tiger Woods watches his tee shot on the 12th hole during the final round of the Cadillac Championship golf tournament in Doral, Fla. Woods withdrew from the U.S. Open on May 28, as he recovers from back surgery that has kept him out of golf for nearly three months. It will be the second U.S. Open, and sixth major, he has missed because of injury over the last six years. The U.S. Open is June 12-15 at Pinehurst No. 2, where Woods tied for third in 1999 and was runner-up in 2005. (Source: Palm Beach Post)

The Jupiter Island resident now is No. 3 in the world behind Adam Scott and Sweden’s Henrik Stenson. With Woods having already missed the Masters in April, the question is whether he will be able to play in a major championship this year.

Woods has not indicated when he might be able to return to competition, saying that would be up to his doctors and how he recovers from his back surgery.
