Palm Beach Post: Years later, Pitchford’s Landing soap opera continues


Sally Swartz, award-winning blogger at The Palm Beach Post, details the often incredible and always controversial events surrounding the Pitchford’s Landing project in Jensen Beach:

Neighbors who worried about density and building heights spoke against the project at public meetings and wrote letters to newspapers. That prompted the Reilys to file a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (SLAPP) against the Jensen Beach Group and individuals to shut them up. Years of fighting followed.

Under a growth-friendly commission majority, the county staff threatened residents who posted signs on their own property opposing the project. Then the Jensen Beach Group filed a SLAPP-back suit against the developers. Eventually the two sides settled.
