Palm Beach Post: Maggy’s Hammock Park comes along at just the right time

Maggy Hurchalla with monkey, last month in Ecuador while whitewater kayaking on the Amazon.

The timing for the new park name, suggested by Palm City resident Bob Matheson, is perfect.

It comes just after Ms. Hurchalla became the target of a Lake Point rock mine developer’s Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation — SLAPP — that seeks to silence complaints Ms. Hurchalla and other residents have about the project.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board recommended the name change based on Ms. Hurchalla’s public service. A Rocky Point resident since 1968, she served as a Martin commissioner from 1974-1994.
