From The Palm Beach Post: The shooting erupted shortly after the end of a Congressional hearing on pollution in Lake Okeechobee, the St. Lucie Estuary and Caloosahatchee River. Mark Perry, executive director of the Florida Oceanographic Society in Stuart, said he heard five or six gunshots near the area where buses drop-off tourists visiting the capitol.

Moments later Perry said he heard what sounded like an explosion on the north side of the capitol parking lot. Perry said he overheard police at the scene saying: “We have injuries.”
