Palm Beach Post: Campaign antics smack of ‘dirty politics’ in Martin commission races


The Palm Beach Post’s award-winning blogger, Sally Swartz, details some of Martin County’s dirty politics: Some Martin County candidates — often those supported by the development industry — love dirty politics. But they don’t want to be branded as dirty.

So in an election campaign, they recruit others to attack their opponents.

Government gadfly Jackie Trancynger, who frequently gives commissioners a piece of her still-sharp-at-80 mind, complained outside the forum that this year’s challengers are not well-informed. “I’ve been coming to these forums for years,” she said, “and you’ve gotta use the word ‘dumb.’ ”

With about five weeks until the Aug. 26 primary, we haven’t seen the last of dumb. And dirty is just getting started.
