Palm Beach Post: Are Martin commissioners ‘The Ones’ voters thought they were?



From award-winning Palm Beach Post blogger, Sally Swartz: Martin County residents who support careful growth— which includes a community-friendly airport — are disappointed. Two Martin commissioners they worked hard to elect, John Haddox and Anne Scott, reneged on campaign promises at a March 4 commission meeting.

They joined Commissioner Doug Smith to vote for a $1.4 million customs facility at Martin County Airport (Witham Field.) The facility could lead to airport growth. Residents might have to pay for shortfalls in operating expenses — even though a group of airport and marine businesses have agreed to contribute up to $50,000 a year for three years.
