From the Herald Tribune: Newspaper publisher Gannett said today that it wants to buy Tribune Publishing for more than $388 million, in a deal that would give the owner of USA Today control of the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune and several Florida newspapers.

Gannett operates five newspapers in the state: The Tallahassee Democrat; Florida Today, in Melborne; the Naples Daily News; Treasure Coast Newspapers, including TCPalm in Stuart, and The News-Press of Fort Myers
