MCSO Urgent Citizen Advisory: Jury duty scam

The Martin County Sheriff’s office would like to warn everyone about a jury duty scam taking place in our area.

This scam appears to be targeting senior citizens.

The callers typically identify themselves as law enforcement officials.

He or she will ask personal information, then tell you a warrant for your arrest has been issued for missing jury duty.

They go on to say that you that you can clear the warrant by paying a fine in the form of cash, credit card, or Green Dot card.

If you don’t pay, they threaten to arrest you.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office will never contact you via telephone about a warrant.

Please make your family members, and neighbors aware of this scam.

If you receive such a call, let the caller know you are aware that this is a scam, and hang up.
