Outstanding police work by two MCSO Warrants Detectives early this morning may have foiled a much bigger crime targeting the Martin County boating community.

Warrants Detective Chris Baker and Detective Justin Doyle conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle near Golden Gate early this morning.

When questioned, the three suspects, two males, and one female out of Hialeah, couldn’t keep their stories straight about why they were in Martin County.

They also couldn’t explain why they had a number of burglary tools in plain view in the back seat of their rental vehicle.

When the suspects gave detectives permission to review their cell phone, a clearer picture began to emerge.

Detectives checked all of the marinas and determined that none had been burglarized as of that hour.

Two of the three subjects admitted to detectives that they were here to commit burglaries.

19-year old Yovany Valera-Gonzalez, 29-yaer old Damian Llanes and 22-year old Xiomara Alfaro Porto were all arrested and charged with Possession of Burglary tools.

Marina burglaries and thefts of boat motors have been on the rise.

It is suspected that much of the theft is occurring from suspects coming from the south.

We are urging all marine businesses to remain on alert, and activate all security systems.

Great work Detectives Baker and Doyle.
