Martin gearing up for 2012 elections

In heavily Republican Martin, most commission races are decided in the primary election. In the past, conservation community residents could not agree on which candidate to back. When they get together, as they did last year, they can elect a smart, green candidate such as Commissioner Ed Fielding by a landslide — even when the growth industry pumps money into an opponent’s campaign. In politics, however, individual egos often trump the collective good.
