Martin County to consider sanctions against environmental challengers

The Florida Current reports that the Martin County Commission on January 28 is scheduled to consider a settlement with environmental groups over their failed legal challenge in 2011 to a Martin County land use policy change.

The case involving 1000 Friends of Florida has become a flashpoint between environmental and planning groups concerned about public participation in land use decisions and conservative groups who think environmentalists abuse the courts to stall development.

Meanwhile, a law firm representing landowners in property rights disputes got involved last week with a public records request and claims that the County Commission has improperly discussed the case outside of public meetings.

Below is the public records request from Pacific Legal Foundation.
