Martin County Sheriff’s Office fraud alert: Con artist claims to be warrants officer

From MCSO: The Martin County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division has received yet another complaint of a con artist calling our citizens, claiming to be a warrants officer with our agency.

The suspect, who identifies himself as “Lieutenant Green”, will advise you that you have a warrant for your arrest and asks you to transfer money via credit card, green dot card, or other means so they can clear the warrant.

Otherwise, they threaten to arrest you.

This highly motivated con artist calls from a (772) number.

Please pass along to your family, friends, neighbors, and anyone who has a phone, that the MCSO will never call and ask for money to clear a warrant, tickets, misunderstanding, IRS debt, or any such thing.

Sheriffs are working on tracking those responsible.

Please stay alert, and thank you for passing this along.
