Mark your calendar: League of Women Voters’ public forum on constitutional amendments, 9.17

The League of Women Voters of Martin County will present a public forum Monday, Sept. 17 at 5:30 p.m., “Vino & Votes,” at Ground Floor Farm in Downtown Stuart. There will be a cash bar, and complimentary light hors d’oeuvres will be served.

The event will focus on the proposed Florida constitutional amendments on November’s general election ballot.

The featured speaker is Martin County Clerk of Court Carolyn Timmann, who served on the Constitution Revision Commission which generated eight proposals. She will review the various proposed amendments, and explain how they got onto the ballot.

Martin County Supervisor of Elections Vicki Davis will also address issues relating to election security and procedures.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
