Library’s BookMania! event returns March 4




BookMania!, the most prestigious literary event on the Treasure Coast, will return for its 23rd year on March 4, 2017 from 9:00am to 3:00pm at Jensen Beach High School, 2875 NW Goldenrod Road.

Authors will participate in one of multiple panel discussions, including Young Adult, Historical Fiction, and Health & Wellness.

The Library Foundation of Martin County, Inc. received a $10,500 grant from the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs to fund the young adult panel, a student workshop with author Paul Griffin, and copies of his book Burning Blue for students.

BookMania! will be filmed and rebroadcast on MCTV, Martin County Television. Barnes & Noble Booksellers will provide books during the festival with a portion of the proceeds benefiting The Library Foundation of Martin County, Inc.

Following opening remarks, the first panel on Health & Wellness, moderated by Inez Frid, will begin at 9:15am and features authors Dr. Steven Masley, Smart Fat, and James Hamblin, If Our Bodies Could Talk.

The second panel, Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers moderated by Amanda Brack, will begin at 10:30am and features authors Jung Yun, Shelter; Hirsh Sawhney, South Haven; Rumaan Alam, Rich and Pretty; and Jade Chang,The Wangs vs. the World.

The third panel, Young Adult moderated by Sue Whittington, will begin at 11:45am and features authors Paul Griffin, Burning Blue, and Jay Asher, Thirteen Reasons Why.

The fourth and final panel, Historical Fiction moderated by Edie Donohue, will begin at 1:15pm and features authors Martha Hall Kelly, Lilac Girls; Helen Simonson, The Summer Before the War; Andrew Malan Milward, I Was a Revolutionary; and James Haley, The Shores of Tripoli.

BookMania! is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.
