League of Women Voters of Martin presents 2015 Susan B. Anthony Award to Eula Clarke

[L] Noreen Fisher, President of the League of Women Voters of Martin County, presents 2015 Susan B. Anthony Award to Stuart City Commissioner Eula Clarke.

At its February luncheon meeting, The League of Women Voters of Martin County honored attorney and civic activist Eula Clarke with its 2015 Susan B. Anthony Award.

This award is presented annually by the League, and recognizes an individual in Martin County who exemplifies “the characteristics of Susan B. Anthony, particularly her independence, persistence, determination, devotion to her faith and her dedication to obtaining equal rights for all citizens of the United States of America.”

A longtime Martin County resident, honoree Clarke is a current member and past mayor of the Stuart City Commission, and a Martin County attorney. She first served Martin County as a senior planner with the county’s growth management department. At 39, she went to law school and then returned to practice law here.

The League of Women Voters of Martin County is a non-partisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The League does not support nor oppose any individual candidates.
