Joint agreement between Martin and Jupiter Island streamlines future dredging of St. Lucie Inlet

Martin County recently received a permit from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to continue periodic maintenance dredging of the inlet. Sand dredged from the inlet is placed onto county beaches. A dredge sits in the St. Lucie Inlet. (Source: Palm Beach Post)

This is only the beginning of a growing collaboration as the county works to bring others together with an interest in the inlet, including the communities of Sailfish Point and Loblolly as well as the town of Sewall’s Point, reports The Palm Beach Post.

Such an agreement is a good idea because the maintenance of the inlet is vital, said John Duchock, beach district manager for the town of Jupiter Island.
