How is Hurricane Florence affecting Florida? Canceled flights, high surf and more

From The Sun-Sentinel: As the massive storm closed in on North Carolina on Thursday, it also was disrupting life in Florida. Here are some ways: canceled flights, East Coast evacuees arriving in Florida, beaches and pier closures, surf and riptides, wind and rain, and animal rescues.

Florida state resources also are being made available to help the states in Florence’s path. That includes two urban search and rescue teams, 29 nurses to assist with special needs sheltering and five ambulance teams to help with medical evacuations, according to the governor’s office.
