From Florida Today: The merger of Gannett and Journal Media Group was completed Friday, adding 15 daily newspapers — three on Florida’s Treasure Coast — and a selection of weeklies and their affiliated websites in 14 states.

This now extends the USA TODAY Network into 107 markets across the country.

In Florida, new Gannett properties consist of newspapers and websites in Naples, Port St. Lucie, Stuart, Fort Pierce and Vero Beach.

The purchase by Gannett, which also owns USA TODAY and media businesses in 91 other markets, was approved by the U.S. Justice Department on Thursday.
