From The Rivers Coalition: ‘Meet and Greet’ general election candidates, 9.26, 5:30pm

The Rivers Coalition would like to put forward a short list of water related questions.

Our “Meet and Greet” should be an opportunity to ask the candidates the following  questions:

1 – If elected, how will you stop the destructive discharges from Lake Okeechobee to the St. Lucie River Estuary and Indian River Lagoon?

2 – If elected, what will you do to stop pollution at its source in our watersheds and will you hold the polluters accountable for their damages?

3 – If elected, will you sponsor legislation and work to obtain funding for water-related projects to protect and restore Florida’s estuaries, lagoons and natural waters?

4 – Agriculture is very influential in Florida. Do you pledge to be independent of this influence and do what’s best for Florida’s waters?

5 – Do you recognize that the toxic blue-green algae blooms pose an immediate danger to the public health, safety and welfare and will you take steps to protect us from these dangers?

At our September 26th Meeting – please join us for the “release” of the first-ever comprehensive health analysis of the entire Indian River Lagoon.
This report card has been compiled by the Marine Resources Council  and will be presented by Executive Director Dr. Leesa Souto.
