Extreme Sports Water Ski Park and Hotel approved by LPA 3-2 for transmittal to county commissioners

A free-standing urban service district is planned, wedged between two proposed Developments of Regional Impact, Harmony and Hobe Grove.

The 114-acre site owned by the Mullets of Palm Beach Gardens, would need the Martin County Commission to approve changes of the land use from agricultural and an expressway-oriented use to a new category, “Extreme Sports Water Ski Park and Hotel.”

The proposed hotel would have 250 rooms; a fast-food restaurant and cabins are also included in the plans. The entrance to the complex would be on Bridge Road.

“It’s just beyond my thought comprehension that we are debating this,” said LPA member John Leighton, III. He continued before the vocal and charged audience, “I don’t see where there’s environmental impact here.”

According to Mullet’s MySpace page, he is 28 and owner of Mullet’s Wake n’ Skate; his hometown is Pensacola. He’s a Sagittarius who’s “In a Relationship,” and lists his occupation as skateboarding.
