Bathtub Beach re-opens; dune rehabilitation work complete

With the work to rehabilitate the north end of Bathtub Beach complete, Martin County is pleased to announce the beach will reopen today.

Martin County Ocean Rescue will be on duty between the hours of 10 am – 5 pm and reminds beach patrons and swimmers to swim near the guarded area for safety.

The public is advised the north exit and exit road of the parking lot will remain closed until further notice as the space will be used as a temporary staging area for sand.

On October 9, Martin County Coastal Engineering began a storm response project on approximately 150 – 300 feet of Bathtub Beach due to extreme erosion from Hurricanes Irma and Maria, strong storm surges and high tides.

This small-scale project consisted of adding sand to a portion of the beach to strengthen and reinforce the dune, safeguarding against a breach and ultimately protecting MacArthur Boulevard.
