ACLU: ‘New Martin rule seems to violate First Amendment, would be flatly unconstitutional’


While repeatedly offering greetings of the season during commissioners’ comments, the County Commission’s revised policy seems to muzzle the First Amendment and free speech for Martin County residents.

The Stuart News reports that “A revised County Commission policy, which restricts what can be said during the public-comment portion of meetings, might be a violation of the First Amendment, according to the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida.”
