The annual list has been created by Forbes since 1982 and now has a minimum bar of $1.7 billion set, which is up a whopping $150 million since just last year.

“It’s a high bar that 145 U.S. billionaires failed to clear,” Forbes noted in its report.

J. Christopher Reyes, 61, of Jupiter Island, is married with four children. He is ranked at No. 149 and worth about $3.8 billion.

He and his brother, Jude, oversee global food and beer distributor Reyes Holdings. Earlier this year the company signed a deal with Coca-Cola to be an exclusive distributor in the greater Chicago area and northwest Indiana. The other divisions include Reyes Beverage Group, the largest beer distributor in the U.S.; Martin-Brower, the biggest food distributor to McDonald’s; and food distributor Reinhart Foodservice. Reyes Holdings got its start when the family bought a small South Carolina beer distributor for $740,000 in 1976. Jude and Christopher own the company along with brother David “Duke” Reyes. Brothers James and Tom Reyes are executives at Reyes’ beverage division.
