1000 Friends President: ‘… changes now in effect certainly provide an avenue for great mischief here and statewide’

Charles Pattison is President of 1000 Friends of Florida, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit membership organization headquartered in Tallahassee, founded in 1986, that promotes healthy urban and natural places by wise management of growth and change.
Regarding the Martin County Comprehensive Growth Management Plan, Mr. Pattison comments: “It is true that the Martin County comprehensive plan remains intact, but the changes now in effect certainly provide an avenue for great mischief here and statewide. The only thing standing between retreats from the current plan provisions, especially the critical urban service boundary policies, is you. The public must remain informed, vigilant and engaged in holding elected officials accountable. Without that, Martin County risks becoming more like the neighbors to the north and south.”
